Real Life

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been neglecting this blog, but I have many areas of my life that all call out for attention equally right now :) For awhile, this blog was number one. And then my design website (www.colleenkeith.com) took priority. And recently, as I need a mental break from all things art and design 24/7 like I was experiencing this last year, I'm more drawn to my fitness and nutrition interests. I'm teaching more lately, and studying to be a personal trainer. All that is on the side of my new job (doing DESIGN!! School was a SUCCESS!!) and catching up with friends who I neglected terribly during my time at Capilano.

So no, I'm sorry to say, there is no new art to share. However, don't despair! I will never give it up and will inevitably feel a pull towards watercolors again in the near future that will put everything else on hold :) For now, delight in the new redecorating of my tiny bachelor suite walls with the Naam Show artwork that sadly did not find a home.

Of course, now that these paintings have a temporary home on my wall, don't think for a minute that they're there to stay. If anyone thinks they might suite your wall even better, let me know!

Tonight is the night!

I'm graduating from the IDEA Illustration&Design Program at Capilano University tonight! Come on down to see it if you can. Our opening night tonight lasts from 6-9pm at 555 West Hastings Street (the Harbour Centre) and there'll be food, wine, BEER, and so much talent it'll take all 3 hours to get through it all!

I've been crazy busy prepping for this big night, so have been neglecting this blog (many apologies). Check out the finished projects that I've shown the process for here on my new website www.colleenkeith.com.

Update on Dance Company Posters/Ads

Update on Woodland Collection

Here's the finished products of my Woodland Collection featuring some adorable baby animals. They're now a pack of postcards and are just too cute not to continue with :) I'll do probably two more series or 6 more images to have a decent body of work, then look into printing them for sale on Etsy or local retailers.

By the way, my official website (more design focused, for now I'll keep this blog for illustration and fine art purposes) is now up! All the work is still being uploaded for another week or two, but check it out nevertheless!

Tattoo Dancers

So these guys are part of a new project I'm working on for my portfolio. I graduate in 6 weeks yesterday (YIKES!!) and am steadily producing more work. However, with my lean towards design, I'm doing less traditional illustration (although I'll never give it up, just has to take a sabbatical right now) and more digital work. My design website will be up and running around March 25th, so go visit it around then at www.colleenkeith.com if you want to see my graphic design work.

These will be a series of posters for a fictional dance company. The focus is on movement and the body, as all dance is. The clothes are knocked back and the musculature has been enhanced and decorated to emphasis their forms. I'll be adding color soon, as well as the company logo and information for the final designs. I'll post those at the end of the month.

Also, if you're in the Vancouver area and want to come out and meet me or see my work up close, my grad show will be on at Harbour Centre at 555 Hastings Street from April 18-21. Here's our website holding page, check back on the 25th to see it up in all it's glory! We've got a GREAT theme this year :D

Woodland Creatures

It's been SO long, I know. My apologies. Any work I've done since my last post has mostly been design work, which I'm not going to be posting on here (despite the name of my blog...shall change that). I'll soon have a personal portfolio website/blog that will house my design work, and maybe my illustration work as well. If that happens, I'll let you know in advance so you can switch over to that one (it will be www.colleenkeith.com).

Anyways, here's some new little guys for you to check out! They're for a postcard project I'm working on, and who knows, I may even print them for REAL someday :) Would love to do it with letter press if budget allows. These are not finished designs, they still need a bit of work and a touch of color. Will upload finished designs when I'm done.

Flyleaf Illustration

Freestyle illustration done based on the band Flyleaf (which may or may not be a Christian Rock band. I wasn't aware of it and apparently they themselves are undecided). This is their lead singer and I just did whatever I felt like doing and it was super fun! Love it :) I should freestyle more often.
